Meet the Team

We are a family farm with a small dedicated team that make it all possible.

Markus Koenig

Marcus, hailing from a diverse Swiss farm, apprenticed in farming, served in the Swiss Army, and worked in a farm supply co-op. He later earned a Business Administration degree in St. Gallen and worked as an accountant while farming part-time. In 1997, Marcus and Jessie moved to Canada to run a commercial potato farm. Health issues led them to shift to organic farming in 2002/03, focusing on soil health. Now in Saskatchewan, Marcus is dedicated to building a sustainable mixed farm for high-quality food production.

Jessie Koenig

Jessie's unexpected journey from a history graduate in Taiwan to a Canadian farm girl began in Western Australia, where she met Marcus. They cultivated various crops in Switzerland and later moved to Ontario. However, her involvement changed with their shift to organic farming. Alongside homeschooling and farm admin, Jessie focused on a healthy lifestyle, gardening, and Holistic Management.

Today, with Marcus, she manages the cash crop section, handling tillage and admin. In her free time, she explores textile work. Summers are spent enjoying the healthy crops by the lake and sunny days on the prairie.

Maurice Koenig

After his Waldorf education in Ontario and New York Maurice moved to Switzerland, apprenticing in agriculture with the focus on organic and biodynamic production. After earning his degree in Ag, still in Switzerland he joined the Swiss Army serving as a specialist and later as corporal in emergency detachments. Since 2021 he is part of Klondyke Farms focusing on special projects, equipment maintenance and supporting cash crop production. Maurice is also working on establishing his own cash- and specialty crop farm of course managed organic and biodynamically.

Our Farming Practices

The Power of Sustainable Farming

Marcus became seriously ill due to intensive chemical use on their Ontario potato farm, prompting a shift towards sustainable practices. They converted their farm to certified organic but lacked organic knowledge. To succeed, they rapidly educated themselves through courses and seminars on various topics.

Facing serious health challenges and disillusionment with conventional medicine, Marcus and Jessie gained a deep understanding of environmental, financial, and social sustainability. This transformative journey led to improved physical, spiritual, and financial health.

Their insights now guide them in helping others facing similar situations. Marcus and Jessie provide consulting to farms and ranches undergoing transitions, financial difficulties, or seeking to refocus on their core values.
